Spring Graduating Class Largest Ever

Honors group FM9A0277At a May convocation, Lubbock Christian University honored a record number of twenty-nine graduating Honors Scholars. Of those, twenty-two received highest (Summa) honors, five high (Magna) honors, and two with honors. The graduates represent majors in all three university colleges, and they include eight varsity athletes and eight musicians. Dr. Stacy Patty, program director, reflected on the overall quality of the group. “While the Honors Program has always led the university in excellence and leadership, this graduating cohort sets a new standard,” director Dr. Stacy Patty noted. “They have achieved much, and they have bold plans for the future.”  The graduates included:

  • Logan Adams, Biochemistry major and Missions minor, who will attend TTU Medical School
  • Rachel Baisden, Youth & Family Ministry major, who will attend Duke Divinity School on a full scholarship
  • Amanda Bloomer, Biochemistry major, who will attend occupational therapy school
  • Amanda Brace, Early Childhood Education major, who will teach English in Ecuador
  • Haley Burton, Accounting and Finance major, who began an accounting career in March
  • Jeremiah Chong, Exercise Science major, who will teach and do mission work in Malaysia
  • Emily Cross, Personal Financial Planning major, who began work with a firm in May
  • Christa Daniel, Exercise Science major, who will attend graduate school
  • Hannah Dimmick, Early Childhood Education major, who will begin teaching in the fall
  • Amy Edwards, Biology major, who will attend the University of Texas/Houston Dental School
  • Kristin Fellows, Accounting and Finance major, who will begin work toward the JD/MBA degree in the fall
  • Clarice Gerbl, Exercise Science major, who will attend the TTU Physical Therapy School
  • Jordan Hatcher, Exercise Science major, who will attend Covenant School of Nursing
  • Andrew Hettick, Mathematics major, who will work toward the actuarial exams
  • Lindsey Holt, English major, who began work with LCU Career Center in May
  • Young Hyun Kang, Pschology major, who will teach and do mission work in Malaysia
  • Sarah Mannon, Exercise Science major, who will attend the University of Texas/Galveston Occupational Therapy School
  • Cassidy Mayfield, English major, who is planning to attend graduate school
  • Rebekah Medellin, Social Work major, who will begin the University of Texas/Arlington School of Social Work
  • John Moore, Marketing major, Digital Media Arts minor, who will pursue a career in graphic design
  • Sommer O’Brien, Psychology major, who will attend TTU Graduate School
  • Leah Price, Art Education major, who will being teaching in the fall
  • Abby Stanley, Biology major, who will attend physician’s assistant school
  • Savanna Stavinoha, International Studies major, who will pursue an MBA degree
  • Caleb Stewart, Humanities major, who will pursue either medical or law school
  • William Tarver, Youth and Family Ministry major, whose future plans are undecided
  • Clayton White, Natural Resources Ecology major, who plans to attend TTU Graduate School
  • Daniel Whitefield, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics major, who will attend Carnegie Mellon University on a scholarship
  • Amber Wilson, Mathematics major, who plans to attend graduate school at TTU
